I have gotten to experience so much during my time here and it had been wonderful. Being a city girl, I do not know much about where our food comes from or how it’s grown, go ahead, you can laugh at me. Since I am in the country, I get to see a lot of this type of stuff. There are rice patties everywhere and there are all sorts of fruit trees. When we came back from the State,s mango season was just ending and luckily for us there is a mango tree on our property! We had mangos straight from the tree for a couple of weeks, it was very nice! Now mangostien, avocado and rambutans are in season. I don’t think mangostien and rambutan growin the States. I know for sure you can only get mangostein juice there. The fruit is so good! Owners of a local shop here have many fruit trees on their property and they invited us to go and pick some. We were able to take a couple of the kids with us, they had so much fun! Growing up in America, we get everything all of the time, we do not have to regard seasons like here. When a fruit is out of season, there is no way that you are gonna get it, but when it is in season….you will eat it until it’s coming out of your ears! The people with the farm give me fruit every time I go to their store which is daily! They say there is too much, it’s all going bad. It’s funny because all of the fruit ripens at the same time, there really is no choice but to give it away. We have been given avocados by so many people..Doris has taken to the internet to find various ways of cooking them! We have had avocado soup, avocado mousse and avocado salad. We have to make it a point to eat the fruit given to us daily otherwise it will go bad. This is not a problem when it comes to mangostein…..I am in mangostein heaven!
